Chasing Waterfalls: Phillips Gulch Falls, Salt Point State Park

Last weekend, we checked out Phillips Gulch Falls at Salt Point State Park with our friends Jen and Clark. This seasonal waterfall flows from Phillips Creek directly into the ocean, surrounded by the rocky Sonoma Coast. It was a gorgeous day, but we hoped the falls would be flowing after recent storms. Sonoma County Birding: West County Regional Trail

West County Regional Trail runs 5.5 miles through the towns of Forestville, Graton and Sebastopol. The vineyards, oak woodlands, rural countryside, and waste water treatment ponds provide a great locale for birding. Sonoma County Birding: New Year’s Day at Ellis Creek

January 1 is traditionally a big birding day, as many birders are eager to re-start their year lists. We spent an afternoon with some of our favorite county birders exploring one of our favorite county hotspots, Ellis Creek Water Recycling Facility in Petaluma, California.
