Back in January, we received a “Thank you for your recording contributions” auto-generated email from The Macaulay Library. The email reported that we’d submitted 320 audio recordings during 2018.
Coincidentally, that same day we had just posted Our 15 Favorite Bird Audio Recordings From 2018. The post was full of our recordings embedded directly from The Macaulay Library, so we thought someone over there might enjoy reading it and we sent them a link.
We were thrilled when a Cornell Lab staff member replied that she really enjoyed the post, and further asked if we’d write a guest post for their Contributor Profiles series. We felt honored to write a short piece for the lauded scientific archive. She asked us to detail how we initially found The Macaulay Library, how and why we started recording bird sounds, how it helped us become better birders, and why we enjoy doing it. Excited to oblige, we set our thoughts to paper and sent off our very first guest post linked below – hope you enjoy it!
Great piece! It really captures your excitement.
Thanks for checking out the post, Greg!
Hey guys!
Looking forward to your leading an RROS birding by ear field trip this Spring?!?!?!? Even if it’s a spontaneous event. Or just take Anne and me out! Is that a little desperation creeping in?
Rob and Anne
Haha, come on Rob, we’ll go birding with you and Anne anytime – you name the day and time!! We’re going to head out to Bodega Bay tomorrow…see you there???
So glad eBird found YOU!! Great “guest post”. Sorry I’m heading to SF today, but hopefully we’ll be out with you really soon!
